Group Reformer Class

Done on a machine in a small setting of only 6 other students this class offers a full body workout while targeting the abs with each exercise. We use exercise techniques to lengthen your body, improve your posture, enhance flexibility to your muscles, improve spinal mobility, and strengthen your arms, legs, buttocks, abs, and back. This workout is great for athletes hoping to enhance their sport performance, while minimizing the risk for injury. Many of our clients train on the Reformer/Allegro as a replacement to their old, tired gym routine. It’s personal training in a comfortable private environment where your focus is totally inside your body. We will train you and your body to work out smarter not harder.

Group Mat Class

Done in various positions on a mat and using a variety of small props this class targets the abs, back, and buttocks, using techniques to enhance the mind-body connection. You will restore mobility to your spine, flexibility to your muscles, and strength to your core. The end result is improved posture, alignment, and mobility…and the end to back pain. All levels welcome.

Prenatal Pilates

There are many changes women go through during pregnancy and postpartum that wreak havoc on the entire body. Pilates improves imbalances and posture while toning and strengthening muscles.

Whether you're still carrying your precious cargo or you've just become a new mom, Pilates prepares the body for pregnancy by keeping the abdominal and pelvis muscles strong and toned, while teaching breathing for relaxation and pain management. It also helps all those busy new moms get their bodies back quicker, while also speeding up recovery after delivery. Contact our studio to find out about our pre and post natal Pilates programs.

Pilates for Rehabilitation

In the rehabilitation world Pilates has proven to be effective in improving strength, flexibility, range of motion, balance and stability after suffering an injury or from chronic disorders. The benefits of a Pilates-based rehabilitation program under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist or certified Pilates instructor is remarkable. The repertoire of exercises can be modified and constructed to tailor to the individual needs of an elite athlete or an elderly individual. We at Pilates in the Grove employee Physical and Occupational therapists that will be able to help you on your road to recovery. Call or email us today to set up your personal one on one evaluation.

Pilates for Athletes

Traditional athletic training methods will help develop the muscles required in a specific sport, but may not address the stabilizing muscles around the joints or the torso. Often, one muscle is identified and exercises are designed to isolate that muscle, usually in a single plane of motion. However, Pilates exercises can be more complex than traditional moves and will therefore recruit a larger number of muscle groups or strengthen the same muscles from many angles and in a variety of different ranges of motion, ultimately benefiting the athlete on various physical and mental levels.  Pilates helps athletes develop core strength, increase flexibility, assist in rehabilitation after injury and create muscular balance throughout the entire body. As a result, athletes can withstand rigorous training programs and ultimately improve their golf drive, split times, running speed or baseball pitch, prevent or recover from injury, and maintain an optimal fitness level for the activity of choice. At Pilates in the Grove we have instructors that specialize in training programs for golf, football, baseball, basketball, volleyball, running, cycling, swimming and dancing. Call or email us today to find out how we can help you improve your athletic performance through private one on one training or a small group setting.

Massage

Deep tissue massage is a type of massage aimed at the deeper tissue structures of the muscle and fascia. Deep tissue massage uses many of the same movements and techniques as Swedish massage, but the pressure will generally be more intense. It is also a more focused type of massage, as the therapist works to release chronic muscle tension or knots (also known as trigger points).

Swedish massage uses firm but gentle pressure to promote relaxation, ease muscle tension and create other health benefits.
